DropPlay – free streaming music + facebook + youtube

Pretty cool new service that lets you stream free music by searching for any artist. It then finds videos from Youtube associated with the track your listening to and adds the ability through Facebook connect to share songs, videos and playlists with your friends.  It’s pretty straightforward and easy to use, I wonder if this will takeoff? There are plenty of free streaming music services, but this puts an interesting twist on things.

See the video below for a much better explanation of what the service does or just visit dropplay.com to try it out yourself

UPDATE:  this is f*&^%$* amazing…really simple and brings everything together really nicely. Great job.

Interactive Photo Hunt on Youtube

Posted: February 2nd, 2009 | Author: admin | Filed under: Innovation, Uncategorized, Work | Tags: , , , | No Comments »

An interesting photo hunt game  by a man named Joe Sabia has emerged on which uses the annotations feature to make an interactive game within the youtube service.  ”There are 30 levels to the game, recapping all the big nominees for the oscars. 64 videos in all. i made use of youtube’s annotations… thought you would enjoy.” I couldn’t care less about the Oscars theme, but besides the idea to the game, its actually an interesting take on how to make a passive video service (besides the comments and social bit) into something interactive and potentially engaging.

There have been other attempts as well such as the already famous Youtube Street fighter game and someone tipped me off on this interactive hot tub game, but I do think this latest installment shows the most potential and definitely takes the annotation feature up a notch. Is this the future of lazy interactive gaming? I’m thinking this will be another trend this year.
