Could this be the beginning of the end? If you think of how many computers and mobile devices default to the main google search page…how many eyeballs do you think this Nexus One ad is going to get? Couple that with all the other contextual ads you see everywhere else for this in search results, gmail etc. Let’s see how this translates to sales (they did get one sale from me, but I have a problem which is a different story all together).

Happy new years everyone! What better way to start the new decade than to get busted by Google street view, picking up some friends on the shoulder of the highway – you’ve been warned – big brother is watching.

Street view brought to you by Google Japan

Been away for a while…new job, no time, no blog posts, no life in general. Here’s a nice little video from Google Japan that basically educates how Google Street view works and what the process is to make it happen. Anyone know who actually made the film and animation for this?

bing

Lots of chatter buzzing about Microsoft’s new search service named “Bing”, especially since it seems to have made an early beta appearance. Will Bing ever dethrone Google as people’s most loved and ubiquitous search engine? Probably not in the short term, probably not in the long run either unless it gives the absolute best search results and gives something different of value to its users…which is yet to be seen from the beta which is up right now.

There is value of trying out different search engines after you haven’t found what you’re looking for with Google. I’m guessing that for now it will end up on the long list of other search engines that people use after gracing the friendly google service.

I wonder also if Microsoft has taken notes from Google in the naming of its service as well. Everyone knows Google has become more than a name, but a verb and a noun as well. What do you think about the name?

- Man, I just “Binged” it online!
- Batta “Bing” Batta Boom!
- Short and concise: “Bing” it up!

Spotify mobile coming to Android

I like Spotify, it’s simple to use, has a decent amount of labels that have signed up and thus has a pretty decent library of tracks. The great thing about Spotify going mobile? – sounds like there will be the ability not only to listen to tracks when you’re online, but also when you’re offline. Check the video out for a preview of what’s to come in the near future…surely this will come out for iPhone and Symbian platforms as well.

Thanks to my main main @juuuso for the heads up.

Google Voice

“Google Voice is a service that gives you one number for all your phones, voicemail that is easy as email, and many enhanced calling features like call blocking and screening, voicemail transcripts, call conferencing, international calls, and more.”

It’s only open to a select few right now, but should be open to test out relatively soon.
