In response to the last post, EA did what I believe to be best “viral” of 2008 for one specific reason. Someone either at EA or W+K Portland (who created the video) was smart enough to be listening to what was going on in social media. Someone actually decided to take a peek and see what was going on in Youtube and more importantly in the comments as well. You see, people automatically assume that Youtube is a place to watch passive videos, but it’s actually a highly interactive environment filled with tons of conversations. The fact that someone had their ear to the ground and decided to respond to Levinator 25’s glitch video is amazing. Having this type of smart, quick conversation with real EA consumers is something we should all strive to do more often….now how they got Tiger Woods to pull this off during his coffee break is something else.
So here’s the latest viral from Nike (I believe) featuring Taylor Momsen trying to escape the paparazzi. I don’t know if it’s just me, but after seeing the infamous Tiger Woods Jesus Shot clip – this one seems to have a few things wrong with it. I’m not sure if its the overtly obvious product shot as the camera pans down, or trying to suspend disbelief that she is freestyle running (which used to be cool what 2 years ago?). You can do it once with Ronaldinho, maybe a couple more with Ronaldo and Kobe as well, but please can we try to do something else with out beloved athletes? BTW…who the hell is Taylor Momsen?
