3D Sobe Lizard Lake Commercial

Now I haven’t actually seen the spot with glasses on yet, but I imagine some simple smoke and mirror effects will be enough to get this spot some attention. It will air on Superbowl Sunday so I’m guessing there will be a CTA to view the advert in full 3D online? Do they actually think people have a pair of 3D glasses lying around next to the chip and dip and six pack? Or do they fully understand that most viewers first touch point with the ad will be online and not actually on tv? If you pay a visit to the Sobe World website you’ll notice that they are giving out free glasses at a few retailers in the states, but I just believe this is too much to ask from a consumer. With all the AR (augmented reality) concepts coming out of last year, I can give merit to Sobe of trying to do something new, but where AR is viewable on a laptop or mobile device (which most everyone has) – trying to get someone to remember to go down to one of the few selected stores and remember to get a pair of 3D glasses, then go home and unpack the groceries and remember to visit the website, put on the glasses and watch a 30 second advert? I’m not convinced.
