No better way of saving I love you than, wait for it…Augmented Reality!

Now I did say that 2009 was going to be the year for Augmented Reality, but I have yet to see anything really interesting with it. I can see how your girl might think how cute it is to see your valentines message message pop out in 3d in front of a webcam – and maybe if this was the first execution it might have had a little buzz to it, but I’m still waiting to see who comes up with a truly interesting way of utilizing this technology. Could it be that having to print out a piece of paper with a code/image on it is just too much to ask for people to do? The added step of bringing it in front of a webcam too much? I think the most innovative use will definitely come from using a mobile device as the screen instead, it gives you many more options of where you could interact with a brand on the go – packaging in a grocery store, coasters in a pub, bus stops…the list goes on.

BTW who the hell was the brand behind this for again?

So far the coolest thing I’ve seen is in my last post about AR.
