“Ever since the debut of QR code in 1994, creative geeks have been trying new and innovative ways to incorporate the interactive squares into our everyday lives. Japan-based creative agency SET has achieved possibly the coolest QR code ever with their work for Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami. Designed to promote the ongoing collaboration between the two style leaders, the code design works with most QR code readers and has the added benefit of being Murakami’s first truly interactive work.”
IDEO’s Toy Labs have come up with a pretty cool app which uses the mic and accelerometer/shake in an interesting way. Also check out their blog for other apps in the future. Key thing to take away…simple, simple, simple.
What was that campaign for the condoms with the balloon animals again? Durex? Shame they didn’t come up with something like this.
Interesting ignition functionality from Chrysler letting you dock your iPod or iPhone start the engine. This is just the beginnings of mobile device and car integration, if you think of when you leave the house, there are only a few things you check before you leave the door – your wallet, your keys and your phone. It’s only a matter of time until your mobile device will be able to open/lock your doors, start and turn off your engine, check your fuel meter from your device and fine the nearest gas station etc.
Most have probably heard about this already as it’s causing a huge media storm, but I’ll repeat again…any thought of ordering a Dominoes pizza just vanished into thin air.
Poor CP+B who in my opinion have done some amazing things with the Dominoes work, such as the custom pizza builder which allows the user to customize their pizza in a fun and interesting manner – just the thought of adding snot, man sweat and pubic hair to the ingredients makes me want to throw up now.
Thanks @noallegiances for the post – this is too funny. Get this…American Apparel finds an image of Woody Allen from the movie Annie Hall to use on a billboard on Allen st in NYC. Woody Allen fights back and says that the company has used his image without consent and sues American Apparel.
So how do they respond you may ask?
“American Apparel says that it can’t have damaged Allen’s reputation by using his image because the film director has already ruined it himself. The company plans to make Allen’s relationships to actress Mia Farrow and her adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn the focus of a May 18 trial , according to the company’s lawyer, Stuart Slotnick. “Our belief is that after the various sex scandals that Woody Allen has been associated with, corporate America’s desire to have Woody Allen endorse their product is not what he may believe it is.”
That’s just a big slap in the face, it also takes quite a bit of courage as well. I guess it’s all just to get a bit of word of mouth and free publicity out there anyway – good or bad, but you have to admit that it’s pretty funny. To quote from the source of this story:
“Much as I hate everything about American Apparel and their ugly, annoying, boring, overpriced hipster clothes, even I have to admit the “Yeah? Well you’re a child molester” defense is pretty effin gangster.”
